Inscribed verso center, in graphite: "P.C. Hooft historieur Hollandais gr. par Jean Lutma orfèuve et graveur natif d'Amsterdam (1609-1689) / Cette estampe est rare et [?] Lutma l'a gravée au ci zelet{?] au lieu du [?]. Il a gravé ainsi trois autres estampes. Savoir comme la Poëte Vondel, de Jean Lutma son Pere et le sien propre. Toutes les 4 sont tres estimées." (likely inscribed by Usslaub); lower right in graphite: "G. Usslaub."
