Inscriptions

Inscription translation (on top front): Publicly purchased for the Chaodian shrine of the Fujun hui [a fraternal association]; (on reverse): Jiaqing, ninth year [1804], twelfth month, first day of the moon: All the jia [neighborhood association] publicly purchased [this piece] valued at three ounces of silver. Those in charge commonly agreed on this resolution not to permit private use [of it] also not to permit transfer or loan to others. If, after investigation, [this charge has been found to be violated, there will be] a fine of three ounces of silver. Each should find it suitable to obey this resolution. Respectfully recorded. In the Chaodian shrine of the Fujun hui, the jia, the one in charge and everybody else bows and presents.
