About this artwork

This trial proof is printed from one stone, without the addition of the second. A crack in the stone, running from top center to bottom right, is clearly visible. Bontecou explained: “The crack was always there. This was the first time I worked with a stone that had a crack, and after that I really liked cracks. So if they had a crack, I just filled it into the drawing, like a line.”
