Erica Warren joined the Art Institute’s Textiles department in 2016 as assistant curator and became associate curator in 2019. During her time at the museum, she has curated numerous exhibitions, including Weaving beyond the Bauhaus, Super/Natural: Textiles of the Andes, Modern Velvet: A Sense of Luxury in the Age of Industry, and most recently, Bisa Butler: Portraits. She also served as an editor and contributor for the catalogue that accompanies the Butler exhibition and wrote an essay for In a Cloud, in a Wall, in a Chair: Six Modernists in Mexico at Midcentury.
Prior to coming to the Art Institute, Warren served as curatorial fellow in the Department of European Decorative Arts and Sculpture at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
She earned her PhD in art history from the University of Minnesota and her master’s degree from New York University.
