Join art therapist Deb Del Signore for a concept-driven virtual studio experience on the topic of aging. Selected artworks from the museum collection will drive this interactive discussion and reflective art making experience as we consider how pervasive ageism resides within ourselves and within the systems and cultures of modern society.

Recommended art materials:
Bring whatever art materials you may have on hand! At the very least, bring something to write with and/or to make marks with and some paper.

Deb Del Signore is a board-certified, art therapist with over 20 years of experience practicing in eldercare in both direct and administrative positions, including director of an Alzheimer’s care community. Her research focuses on how the arts and critical discourse in eldercare can inspire and facilitate practices of equity into the daily lives of the people who reside and work in long-term care settings. She advocates with older adults and eldercare staff, bringing a social justice framework to non-profit settings through documentary filmmaking, large-scale community-based art projects, exhibitions, in-services, and public dialogue. She served as the art therapist facilitator of the Art in the Moment program at the Art Institute of Chicago for nearly a decade. Currently, she provides in-home art facilitation with individuals living with a diagnosis of dementia. Deb is also an adjunct associate professor and fieldwork placement coordinator in the Department of Art Therapy at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

We recommend using a laptop or desktop computer and downloading the latest version of Zoom to enjoy this program.
