Drop in to Saturday Studio at the Art Institute this summer to explore art-making experiences led by Chicago-based artists! All experience levels and ages are welcome, and materials will be provided.
In this session of Saturday Studio, participants will create unconventional self-portraits inspired by the text-based work of artist Mel Bochner. Led by Chicago-based artist and educator Danielle Wright, participants will work with a thesaurus to select words that are intuitive and personal and then use their chosen words to compose a portrait that plays with type, repetition, color, and shape on paper. This event takes place in Mel Bochner Drawings: A Retrospective and is first-come, first-served based on available supplies.
Danielle Wright is a visual artist and educator engaged in serious play. She lives and works in Chicago, IL.
