The health and safety of the Art Institute community is our highest priority. As such, the museum is temporarily closed as we work to thoroughly and thoughtfully respond to the escalating impact of COVID-19.
All museum events—tours, lectures, performances, etc.—will remain on hiatus during the closure, as will school tours.
We recognize that the situation is dynamic—and that the repercussions of the virus could be felt for some time. With that in mind, we are taking this opportunity to develop enhanced standards and protocols and are confident that we can meet the rigorous health and safety standards we are setting for ourselves in anticipation of reopening.
During the closure, we are developing and sharing content on our website and social media channels to continue to fulfill the museum’s mission to inspire and educate the public.
If you have already purchased tickets to visit the museum during the closure, the cost of your tickets will be refunded to the card on which you made the purchase within 10 business days.
We will continue to work with Chicago and Illinois public health officials and will update our website with any new developments.
